Sculpture Live Exhibit (May 17-Aug. 9)

A sculpture exhibit at the Pryor Gallery for the first time. Two artists of opposite artistic approach and mediums exhibit their work. The walls tell the stories of how the works were created by both artists. You will be walked through their process of creation from lost wax to bronze and fired clay to using reclaimed wood.

Russ Faxon, a local artist with his home and studio in historic Bell Buckle, began as a teacher. He was called to travel and expand his education in sculpture. Therefore, he went to Italy for a classical education in studying the Masters in sculpture and the fine art of bronze casting. He has followed this path in art ever since creating bronze sculptures of monumental proportions to table size models. He will be exhibiting his tree people themed bronze collection.

Shadow May is a self-taught, award winning ceramic artist and sculptor. He started his journey in Alaska to find his way to Chattanooga, TN where he calls home, today. He spent many years as a functional potter to break all the rules and push function to form. He is deliberate with balancing form, texture, color and mediums in a very exciting fresh new way. One must see for themselves as it cannot be sufficiently described in print.

Gallery hours are Monday - Thursday, 8 a.m. - 8 p.m. Friday, 8 a.m. - 4 p.m. Some exhibits have Saturday hours., 10 a.m. - 5 p.m.
